My commitment to an accessible website

My Commitment

I want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies. I am committed to making treysonwelch.com accessible and to continuously improving the experience for all visitors, regardless of ability or device.

Conformance Target

This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These internationally recognized guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. While I work toward full conformance, some areas may not yet fully meet every criterion.

Measures Taken

Steps I have taken to make this site more accessible include:

  • Semantic, structured HTML with a logical heading order;
  • Keyboard-navigable links and buttons that use native, focusable controls;
  • Descriptive alternative text on portfolio and project images;
  • A dark, high-contrast color palette chosen for readable text;
  • Responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels;
  • Respect for the "reduce motion" system setting — animations are automatically disabled for visitors who prefer reduced motion.

Known Limitations

Despite my efforts, some limitations remain. I am aware of the following and am working to address them:

  • Embedded scheduling — The booking section uses a third-party Calendly widget whose accessibility I do not directly control;
  • Image-based examples — Some portfolio items are screenshots of email and software work; while they include alt text, the fine detail within an image may not be fully conveyed by a screen reader.

If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let me know so I can address it.

Feedback

I welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this site. If you experience any difficulty accessing content, or have suggestions for improvement, please email me at treyson@treysonwelch.com. I aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe and will do my best to provide the information or assistance you need in an accessible format.

Ongoing Effort

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time task. As I update this site, I will continue to test and improve its accessibility, and I will revise the "Last updated" date above when meaningful changes are made.
